Rostova Wins 2010 Robert Sangster Stakes

Rostova, trained by Steve Richards, won her first Group 1 race in the 2010 Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) at the Morphettville Racecourse on Saturday.

As the seventh race of the day, the filly took out the 18-horse field from the 15th barrier, winning by three-quarters of a length.

Finishing second was the favourite going into the race – Velocitea. The Mick Price-trained mare beat Sister Madly, who took third spot, by a long neck.

Elsewhere in the field for the Robert Sangster Stakes, other favourites for the race were Headway and Majestic Music, the two finished 14th and 10th respectively.

Next on Rostova’s agenda is mostly likely going to be the Group 1 The Galaxy (1100m) on the 17th of April in the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.

Also taking place on Saturday at the Morphettville Racecourse was the Group 1 Schweppes Australasian Oaks (2000m) and the Group 3 Jansz National Stakes (1200m).
