April 12th, 2012

The Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes is due to run at Morphettville Racecourse in Adelaide on Saturday April 28, 2012.

The 2012 Robert Sangster Stakes is set to run over a distance of 1,200 metres and is run under weight-for-age conditions.

Worth $350,000 in prize money, the 2012 Robert Sangster Stakes is open to fillies and mares only.

Black Caviar has nominated for the 2012 Robert Sangster Stakes and be aiming to post her 20th race win in the event.

The five-year-old mare has currently won all 19 of her career runs and is classed as the fastest sprinter in the world.

Trainer Peter Moody will be giving Black Caviar a trial on April 19, 2012, after which he will make his final decision on a 2012 Robert Sangster Stakes start.

Brenton Wilkinson, who is the CEO of the South Australian Jockey Club (SAJC) was thrilled with the news that Black Caviar could run in the 2012 Robert Sangster Stakes.

This is the news we’ve been waiting for and we couldn’t be more ecstatic,” Wilkinson said.

“Adelaide hosted Phar Lap and Tulloch, who were the greatest horses of their time and it’s appropriate we should get to see the best horse of this generation.”

Black Caviar will then most likely run in the 2012 The Goodwood at Morphettville Racecourse on Saturday May 12, 2012.

The 2012 Robert Sangster Stakes is run on the same day as the Group 1 Australasian Oaks, Group 2 Queen Of The South Stakes, Group 3 SAJC Chairman’s Stakes, Group 3 DC McKay Stakes and Listed Dequetteville Stakes.
