English remains an outright $4.60 favourite in 2017 Robert Sangster Stakes betting markets with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au despite drifting, ahead of Sheidel $5) and market mover Super Cash ($7.50).

Will English justify favouritism and win the 2017 Robert Sangster Stakes, or will one of her talented rivals post an upset?

1st

Egyptian Symbol ($14)

Egyptian Symbol is more than up to the class of this race on her day and she should find an ideal position just behind the pace from barrier 8. Winner of the Wyong Magic Millions 3YO & 4YO Classic (1200m) on December 22nd, the Stratum mare was caught on pace in the Magic Millions Plate (1300m) on January 14th before finishing sixth. Last seen working to the line well for second in the Group 2 Breeders’ Classic (1200m), Egyptian Symbol has trialled well leading into the Robert Sangster Stakes and is arguably over the odds at her current quote.

2nd

Sheidel ($5)

Runner-up in the Robert Sangster Stakes last year, Sheidel has returned to racing in outstanding form this year and should again prove tough to beat in the feature race on Saturday. Resuming this year for a smart win in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m), the Holy Roman Emperor mare ran an impressive fourth in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) before finishing mid-pack in the Group 1 William Reid Stakes (1200m) last time out on March 24th. Having reportedly taken plenty of benefit from her time in the paddock, Sheidel has drawn ideally centrally into the Robert Sangster Stakes field and has the notable advantage of Joao Moreira in the saddle.

3rd

Missrock ($21)

Missrock is another filly who has returned to racing in excellent form this time and is undoubtedly over the Robert Sangster Stakes odds at $21 for success, or $6.50 to finish in the first three. A multiple stakes winner at sprinting trips, the daughter of Fastnet Rock returned this time for a smart win amongst classy company in a Flemington sprint over 1200m on March 4th and while going amiss in the Group 1 The Galaxy (1100m), responded with a close second in the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes (1200m) on Day 2 of The Championships. Drawn ideally in barrier 5, Missrock will be partnered by in-form hoop Damian Lane.
